TOP SALON & SPA OWNERS NETWORK THEIR WAY TO SUCCESS AT INTERNATIONAL SALON/SPA BUSINESS NETWORK'S ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Indian Wells, CA-May 4-6, 2008-Owners and key managers from North America's top salon and spa companies accepted the invitation to "Network Your Way to Success" at the International SalonSpa Business Network's (ISBN) 2008 Conference, May 4-6 in Indian Wells, CA. Formerly known as the International Chain Salon Association, the group represents leaders and senior executives from companies owning and managing two to more than 12,000 salons and/or day spas.
"Based on our members' feedback, our 2008 conference focused on networking to share best practices and solve common challenges," says Paula Malloy, ISBN president and director of marketing for JCPenney Salons. "THE ISBN offers the owners of multiple salon or spa locations the opportunity to belong to an inclusive network of companies that shares information and ideas about how they are creating new opportunities in the marketplace by thinking differently and acting without fear. The goal of ISBN is to help everyone involved achieve their next level of success."
Keynote speaker Joe Calloway presented, "Becoming a Category of One." "There are three steps to becoming a Category of One," explained Calloway.
- 1. Think of a place you just love to do business.
- 2. Ask yourself what's in that place that you find compelling? What does that company do to lock you in and differentiate itself from others?
- 3. Ask yourself, "What's my version of that?"
Calloway then led an interactive workshop in Becoming a Category of One with Your Staff, with real-world examples from Debra Penzone, president of Charles Penzone Salons & Day Spas in Columbus, OH, and Becoming a Category of One with Your Clients, with Ron Provenzano, co-owner of Zano Salons & Day Spas in the Chicago suburbs. Calloway is the author of best sellers, including Becoming a Category of One, Work Like You're Showing Off and Indispensable: How to Become the Company That Your Customers Can't Live Without.
Roundtables allowed members to get in-depth on the topics that matter most, including How and When to Add Locations, Marketing/Promotions, Lease Negotiations and Renegotiations, How to Value Your Business, Employee Benefits and Compensation Packages for Hiring and Retaining Quality Staff, Client Acquisition and Retention Programs, How to Run a Cost-Effective Contest for Your Staff, How to Manage Millennials, Franchising and Web Site Development.
Highlighting the conference were Speed Meetings in the Link-Up lounge with gold sponsors, including Redken Fifth Avenue NYC and Matrix; silver sponsors, including BehindtheChair.com and WhoDoesYourHair.com, Farouk Systems Group, Nioxin, SalonBiz and SpaBiz; and bronze sponsors, including AG Hair Cosmetics, Alterna, Belvedere, Brocato, Envision, European Touch, GoLoyal, Hairdreams, HairUWear, Kenra, KPSS, Metropolis, Millennium by Harms Software, NailTek, Paul Brown Hawaii, Product Club, Pure Fiji, Rogers Software Development, Sexy Hair, Takara Belmont, The Pavilion and Zotos.
